guide to producing your annual report - page 5

Photography and Images

After deciding on the purpose/aims/target audiences of the report you can then make a decision whether to use staff supplied ‘snaps’, commission ‘reportage’ type shots or quality photographs or perhaps use library-sourced images.

You should consider engaging a professional photographer for shots of CEO and board members – a good location, lighting, etc. can present a professional image.

A few carefully chosen, large, quality images are usually worth more than lots of poor quality ones.

Creative cropping/montages of images can make even a snap (or boring subject) interesting.

Ideally photographs should be used to illustrate/draw attention to key points in the text. Consider captions – like sub-heads, readers scan photos and captions, which can communicate key points.
