The Annual Report is likely to be the key annual communication that an organisation will produce each year. It should provide a retrospective picture of performance in line with strategy and objectives and comply with the relevant statutory / regulatory requirements. In line with this, a forward-looking future perspective enables the reader to understand what to expect in the future, and also shows the sustainability of the organisation.

The main function of the report is to communicate an organisations performance and should cover:

 

Strategy and objectivesThe organisation in context of external market driversPrincipal risks to achieving performance objectivesHow performance is measured (KPI’s)Key resources used to achieve performance objectivesSustainability and social responsibilityFinancial performance.
